College planning should feel personal, not like a checklist or a one-size fits-all process. Southern Roots combines experience in higher education, career services, high school/college advising, and college application support to provide practical guidance tailored to each student. My goal isn’t to tell your student where they should go to college or what they should major in; it’s to help them understand their options, stay organized, make informed decisions, and feel confident throughout the process.
And because most of my clients come through referrals, the trust of families is at the heart of Southern Roots.

The easiest way to get started is through the “Get Started” form on our website. You can share a little about your student, what you’re looking for, and where you are in the college planning process.
From there, we’ll connect and determine the best next step.

How much there is to do beyond simply filling out the application.
The college application process involves researching schools, building a balanced college list, understanding deadlines, preparing essays, requesting recommendations, sending transcripts and test scores, completing financial aid and scholarship requirements, monitoring college portals, and keeping rack of countless details along the way.
The biggest challenge is knowing what needs to happen and when.
Starting early and having a clear plan can make the process much less overwhelming. You don’t have to wait until senior year to begin, and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Ah, the million dollar question!
Southern Roots keeps things flexible. You can start with just one hour and add additional time as needed. No giant package required.
Before July of senior year: $60/hour
Beginning July senior year: $75/hour
Some families need one hour to tackle a specific questions, while others need several hours to work through applications, essays, scholarships, and everything in between. You choose what works best for your student and your budget.
And don’t worry…you don’t have to know exactly how many hours you need before you get started.
